How does the "Ask a Librarian" chat work?

You can click on the Ask a Librarian (Chat) button anytime. Contact us at 2 am or 2 pm--whatever works best for you! What happens next depends on whether or not librarians are staffing Chat. Chances are they won't be available at 2 am.
- During hours when Chat is staffed, you will be assisted by a librarian in real time. You will be able to send your questions directly to a librarian who can help you via written communication or through a screensharing option, which will launch a Zoom video session. Screensharing will only be enabled if needed. Written communication through Chat is the default option.
- During hours when Chat is unstaffed, you will still be able to submit your questions. A librarian will receive those questions and address your needs the next business day.
